I had just immersed myself in the world of Splattered Skies, painting feverishly for weeks in preparation for the collection's debut show. This piece was not intended to become part of that show, nor the collection at all, but rather a memento for me to commemorate the official launch of this new and exciting body of work. The name of the abstract was "Celebration." It was complete. However, I still had time before the deadline, and I was flying pretty high, so I decided to paint one more. The scene is inspired by a combination of things that make me happy: palm trees; mountains; and Italy (via the gondolier). This piece is very symbolic to where I was at that moment in time. It represents new beginnings, exploration, heading into the unknown with a wonderous joy, and the discovery of paradise. I find it to be representative of of the entire collection and believe it will always hold a special place for me.
